Here at Jack and Bowl, we understand how much your bowls mean to you. Our range of bowls accessories can help you keep your bowls in great condition, allowing you to get out there and play at your best for as long as possible. Here’s everything you need to know!
Why Proper Bowl Care Matters
All of the bowls that we stock are crafted with precision and are designed to deliver consistent performance. However, regular use can take its toll! After plenty of wear and tear, you might see things like loss of grip and control, along with damage such as scratches to the surface of the bowl. This can all lead to a reduction in the lifespan of your bowls. Don’t worry though! By investing some time and effort into proper care, you can keep your bowls looking pristine and performing reliably for years to come.
Polishing
Polishing is essential if you are going to take care of lawn bowls. It keeps them nice and shiny and removes dirt and oils from the surface. As well as making them look great, this helps to preserve their integrity. That’s why a high-quality polishing sleeve is a must-have accessory for any bowler! We recommend a stretchy sleeve that gives a snug fit around your hand for easy and efficient polishing. This will also be able to stand up to plenty of use, giving you great value for money.
You should Polish your bowls regularly, especially after matches or practice sessions, to maintain their finish and keep them in great condition.
Use a Quality Bowls Bag
It’s a good idea to invest in a sturdy bowls bag with padded compartments. This prevents your bowls from knocking against each other, which can cause chips and scratches over time. We have a range of stylish and protective bags for bowlers of all levels, along with accessory pouches to keep things like cloths and polishes to hand.
Store Them Properly
Moisture can lead to surface damage and affect how your bowls perform. That’s why you should always store them in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight. Never stack your bowls directly on top of one another without something protecting them. Use separators or keep them in their designated compartments within your bowls bag while they are not in use.
Cleaning Your Bowls After Use
Regular cleaning is key to maintaining the appearance and performance of your bowls. Use a brush or toothpick on the grip area to clean the grooves without causing any damage. We then recommend rinsing them with lukewarm water to gently rinse away dirt and grime and then using a soft cloth to dry them thoroughly. Avoid harsh, abrasive chemical cleaners, as these can damage the surface of your bowls. If you are in need of a stronger cleaner, we’ll be able to point you in the direction of suitable products. Following all of this, polish thoroughly.
