Why Lawn Bowls Is the Perfect Low-Impact Sport: What You Can Expect

Have you been advised to get more active? Or maybe you have decided to get out there and take up a sport to improve your mental well-being! Whether your reasons for getting started, choosing a low-impact sport is the best way to ensure that you remain injury-free and motivated to keep going. We may be a little biased (pardon the pun!), but we really do think that lawn bowls is the perfect low-impact sport.

So why not browse our collection of lawn bowls bags and find out more about how you can benefit from giving bowls a go?

Walking rather than running

Bowls can be a great cardio workout, and you may not even feel like you are doing much! It's a sport that sees you do a lot of walking, but because you aren't doing so at a fast pace, it is much easier to maintain that level for a prolonged period of time. If you were to try something like running, on the other hand, it's easy to feel overwhelmed if you aren't used to pushing yourself to that degree.

No heavy weights

You're obviously going to be bowling and picking up your bowls as you play, but it's not at the same level of intensity as lifting heavy weights. If you aren't someone who does a lot of strength training, you are still going to find bowls really accessible. All that matters is that you choose the right size bowls so that you can play comfortably, and we can provide you with plenty of advice as you take your pick from our range.

Gently improve balance and coordination

Bowling does require some level of balance and coordination, but you won't be thrown in at the deep end with this. The more you play, the better your balance will become as you bowl. Your hand-eye coordination will improve as well, often without you even realising! One day, you'll just realise that the shots you are making are going exactly where you need them to, and there's truly no better feeling than that!

Bowls aids can help

If you are worried that bowls will still pose some challenges, we can help. We stock a number of bowling aids, from walking stick protectors to bowl and jack lifters. So even if you aren't as mobile as you once were, you can get out there and play to your best ability! With a bowling bag to keep all of your essentials in one place, too, you'll be able to get everything from A to B with ease.

Get out there and play!

As you can see, bowls really is a sport for everyone. As a leading bowls retailer, we have everything you need to get started, so why not check out our range today? We'd love to be the reason you decided to give bowls a go!
