Your Essential Guide
Wondering how to keep your lawn bowls clean? Then you aren’t alone! We are asked by so many of our customers how to keep their bowls clean and looking their best. So, we thought that we would put together a quick guide for you. Here is everything you need to know about taking care of lawn bowls so you can make sure that yours last for many years to come.
Get to grips with a wooden pick
If you play outdoors, then you don’t need us to tell you that dirt and other debris can become lodged in the grips of your bowls. So, before you clean them, take the time to remove any dirt using a wooden toothpick or anything else that will get right in there and dislodge it. Don’t use any metal tools as they might damage the surface of your bowls.
Wash them
The simplest part of bowl care is one that many people overthink. Yes, we’re talking about cleaning. All you need is a microfibre cloth (anything rough could scratch your bowls) water and a mild detergent like washing up liquid. These are things that most people are going to already have at home.
Drying your bowls
Once you have cleaned your bowls thoroughly, it’s time to dry them off! Use a microfibre cloth again for this. We do stock microfibre bowls towels that have been specially designed for this, so there’s no need to rely on cloths that aren’t up to the job. Make sure that your bowls are thoroughly dry before you go to the next step.
Polishing
After you have cleaned and dried your bowls, you need to polish them. We have a range of bowls polishes for you to take your pick from in our bowls care range, so you are sure to find something that meets your needs here. Be sure to only ever use a polish that is designed for bowls and apply it using a soft polishing cloth.
Storing your bowls
Your bowls are clean now. It’s important that you keep them that way for as long as possible! You want to store your lawn bowls in a cool, dry place when you are not using them, as direct sunlight or high temperatures in the boot of a car can cause them to warp or crack. We have many bowls, carriers and bags in stock that will allow you to keep your bowls safely stored when you aren’t playing.
